Technology for tomorrow’s living environment

Our R&D focuses on deepening vegetation insight. We are developing new techniques that not only recognise trees, but also determine species and predict underground structure.

At Locus, future-focused technology starts in the lab. Below is a look at what we’re working on right now.

Tree-species recognition

Using multispectral data, seasonal time series and point-cloud geometry, we are developing AI models that can automatically classify tree species.

Applications

  • Biodiversity monitoring
  • Valuation and ecological analysis
  • Management of native & invasive species

Digital estimation of root space

We are building algorithms that estimate the potential root spread per tree, based on tree shape, growth structure, species and surroundings.

Result

  • Predicting growth constraints
  • Better replanting policy
  • Integration with underground infrastructure planning

Integration into Digital Twin

All new insights become available within our digital environments, for simulation, visualisation and decision-making.
